A pleasant estate on Lake Päijänne. Built in the 1920s, the Hoimela estate has been restored for holiday-makers. You can stay in the romantic Maid's Room, the cozy Granny's Cabin, or the old servants' quarters with kitchen. A bath in the genuine wood-heated sauna and a dip into the clear-watered lake is an irresistible combination. Hoimela's sauna was selected the Tourist Sauna of the Year in 1999 by the Finnish Sauna Society. You can grill sausages on the lakeshore or go rowing on the lake. Hoimela has lots of animals, from horses and ponies to cats and chicks. There are wilderness areas for hiking and a boat for cruising the Päijänne lake. Whether you choose a vacation of total relaxation surrounded by beautiful nature, or an active holiday with swimming, fishing, horseback riding, and picking wild mushrooms and berries in the woods, Hoimela has it all.
Restaurants Bed & Breakfast is available. Dinner is available by reservation and served at 5.30 pm daily in summer.
